Is Bernie Still Presidential? A Chat with NYU for Bernie Supporters

Many say that New York University is one of the most liberal universities in the United States. Safely nestled in a traditionally blue state, New York City itself has been an active participant in many progressive movements, from women’s rights, to gay rights, to gun reform protests. As a result, NYU students enjoy the opportunity to be as politically involved as they want. NYU’s liberal leanings, however, are not monolithic.

The Problem of Race-Neutral Policies in a Race-Conscious Society

On Tuesday, October 1st, U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs ruled in favor of Harvard University in one of the most high-profile cases on affirmative action in recent years. Her decision put a halt to a legal battle that started in 2014. The leader of the advocacy group “Students for Fair Admissions” (SFFA) Edward Blum sued Harvard on the grounds that the university discriminated against Asian-American applicants in the admissions process.

Officer Guyger Sentenced 10 Years, Now What?

Amber Guyger shot an unarmed 28-year-old black man, Botham Jean, on September 6th, 2018. What followed was outrage, confusion, and anguish. At the time, Guyger was a police officer with a track record of inappropriate and offensive text messages and online posts.
